A Game Changer

The Challenge

In 2015, Maverick Pools collaborated with Pepper construction to install the hydrotherapy pools in the new clubhouse of the Chicago Cubs. The new clubhouse was being installed 30 feet below street level and sits outside of the Wrigley Field footprint.  We installed 3 Hydroworks spas, 2 were normal spas and the third was a steel tank spa with an underwater treadmill.

The Challenge

We had to bring in all of the spas, piping, and filter equipment through a 10’x10’ hole that Pepper Construction had opened up right by Clark Street.  Once the spas had been brought into the basement, we had to maneuver the spa with a gantry and drop them into their final location.  This all began shortly after the 2015 season, which was extended due to the Cubs making a long playoff run that year.  Because of this, Maverick only had 5 months to complete the installation and have the locker room ready for the 2016 season opener in April.

The Result

We were able to complete the installation of the state of the art facility with 3 weeks of cushion prior to opening day. As some of you know, 2016 was the year the Cubs were able to break the curse and win the World Series. That year, Kyle Schwarber tore both his ACL and LCL in the third game.  Since the Cubs installed the new state of the art training facility with the spas we installed, Kyle was able to stay in Chicago to complete his rehab on site.

"Theo Epstein credited this new facility with helping Kyle stay close to his teammates during his rehab, which resulted in a World Series win! As lifelong Cubs fans, Maverick is extremely proud, and feel that we played a role in that World Series victory."
